AFIPA publishes a decalogue of safety measures for automatic doors

10 keys to prevent accidents due to the use of automated systems

The Association of Automatic Door Manufacturers of Murcia (AFIPA) has developed a decalogue with prevention and safety measures for the correct use of automatic doors. This regulation is designed for industrial, residential and commercial contexts, given the risks involved in the improper use of automatic doors. The ten keys included in the Decalogue aim to raise awareness among users for an optimal use of automatic doors. In this sense, asking for help from professionals such as our company and carrying out maintenance and revision actions of the automatisms periodically play a fundamental role. The main premise on which this regulation is based is the guarantee of zero risk of accidents. AFIPA insists that the safety of users is paramount, so any safety measure is not enough. They also remind users of their obligations regarding the maintenance of automatic devices and their adaptation to current regulations.

The use of automatic doors is becoming more and more widespread.

There are automatic doors of various types (sectional, swing, up-and-over or sliding) and their presence in neighborhood communities, commercial premises or public centers is increasing. Hence the importance of remembering that they are, after all, machines. The risks inherent in the use of any machinery also apply to automatic doors.

The countless efforts to disseminate AFIPA’s Decalogue are part of the awareness campaign for this autumn in the Region of Murcia: “Automatic doors, more than a passage area”. These actions began already last summer and have the collaboration of FREMM (Regional Federation of Metal Entrepreneurs of Murcia) and the Ministry of Enterprise, Industry and Spokesmanship.
